Intraoral Camera: See What We See!

Here at Smile Crafters, we pride ourselves in using innovative technologies such as intraoral cameras to provide our patients with high-quality and thorough dental services.

What are Intraoral Cameras?

Intraoral cameras are a technological replacement for the traditional handheld mirrors used to see inside a patient’s mouth.

The camera comes in the form of a pen-like apparatus that can be used to photograph the inside of the mouth. These images can then be directly projected onto our computers or monitors for immediate review.

Compared to the traditional mirrors, the intraoral camera allows our dental team to examine your mouth and teeth much more closely and precisely.

How are Intraoral Cameras used in Dentistry?

Intraoral cameras have an abundance of uses within dentistry, from helping to locate damage or decay to looking for signs of disease or infection on the gums and surrounding tissue.

This device is particularly advantageous for dentists because it includes features for magnifying and zooming in on areas of the mouth with issues that are too small for the naked eye to properly assess. Plus, intraoral cameras have the added benefit of being able to provide images to insurance providers when patients need proof for coverage.

Monitoring Dental Health with Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras make dental hygiene and health assessments much more thorough and efficient. These cameras can be used to monitor for several dental health conditions, including:

  • Gum disease or gingivitis
  • Small fractures, chips, or cracks in the teeth
  • Cavities and plaque build-up
  • Early signs of mouth and throat cancer

Smile Crafters is always accepting new patients in Clermont and the surrounding areas. To learn more about intraoral cameras or any of our other services, give our team a call to schedule your appointment today!
