Dental Implants: Your Personal Smile Plan
How do Dental Implants Work?
A dental implant is more than just a prosthetic crown or filling – the implant not only serves as an artificial tooth but as an artificial root as well.
The dental implant is comprised of three main components:
- The implant that serves as the artificial root
- An abutment that connects the artificial root to the prosthetic tooth
- The prosthetic tooth
The artificial root is designed to be permanent, while the abutment and prosthetic tooth are both designed to be durable yet replaceable.
Smile Crafters Uses Cone-Beam CT Imaging
At Smile Crafters, we use cone beam CT imaging to produce our custom dental implants. The cone-beam CT is a type of x-ray equipment used to procure 3-D images of the teeth, tissues, nerves, and bones. This allows our dental team to make an implant designed specifically for the client and their exact mouth, teeth, and jaw shape.
Using this type of scanning equipment also helps us to determine whether or not a patient has enough bone and gum mass to support a dental implant.
Who Needs Dental Implants?
The good thing about dental implants is that they are suitable for all ages once the patient’s full set of mature teeth have come in.
Dental implants may be a preferable option instead of dentures for replacing damaged or missing teeth, as they are both durable and require little additional care outside of regular dental hygiene. Plus, the implant is designed to help support the structural integrity of the surrounding teeth as well!
Smile Crafters is always accepting new patients in Clermont and the surrounding areas. To learn more about dental implants or any of our other services, give our team a call to schedule your appointment today!
